     About Holloman AFB
Holloman is a United States Air Force Base, established in World War II as a training base for British pilots - they never used the base, as the US suddenly entered the war, and used the base for its own military. The host unit at Holloman is the 49th Wing, which trains United States Air Force crews in F-22A and T-38A aircraft to deploy worldwide. Other units include the 7th Fighter Squadron, 96th Test Group, and was until 2013 the location of the German Air Force Flying Training Center. Holloman Air Force Base is home to the longest high speed test track with over 50,000 feet. The track still stands as the site of the land speed record holder (6,453 mph, using a rail vehicle - eight times the speed of sound), achieved in 2003. Holloman Air Force Base is located near Alamogordo, New Mexico, and the main entrance is accessible on Highway 70. For more information click here.
